  • The generally accepted minimum word count of a novel is 80,000 words
  • Sometimes a novel can be as large as 150,000 words, or even more
  • Smaller than 80,000 words may be considered a novella
  • Smaller than 5,000 words may be considered a short story
  • Choose the size you want and stick to it
